Our Instructors

Nationwide 4x4 is recognised by and registered as a LANTRA Awards service provider, and is fortunate to number amongst its team no less than three Senior LANTRA Awards instructors.  We are also able to call upon other qualified instructors who are based throughout the country should the need arise.

Our instructors are highly qualified in all areas and types of traffic management, road safety, specialised driver training and off-road driving.   The Nationwide 4x4 team has wide experience of working overseas.

Meet the Team!

Selwyn Kendrick

Selwyn has vast experience in the field of commercial transport and a deep-seated passion for four-wheel drive vehicles. Originally trained at the Rolls Royce School of Chauffeurs, he has an impressive portfolio of training and instructing on just about every conceivable type of vehicle.

Selwyn's knowledge and background led to him becoming a respected authority on the subject of four-wheel drives and, in recognition of the urgent need for formal off-road training for these highly specialised vehicles, he was instrumental in gaining acceptance for the nationally-recognised need for driver certification and continued assessment. These days Selwyn effectively 'trains the trainers'. His services are frequently called upon by the country's leading National Training Organisation’s (NTOs), and many of his standards now form the basis of NTO training manuals. He is much in demand as a demonstration driver for Ford, Vauxhall, Jeep, and County York vehicle manufacturers,

Selwyn is a LANTRA Awards Senior instructor and Mentor, and holds every possible 'D' rating, NVQ P Section 32, 33 and 34 Senior Instructors Ratings and City & Guilds Certification. He is actively involved with, amongst others, the RAC, the Military, the BBC, the Forestry Commission and LANTRA Awards, and is a regular consultant and training authority to a number of international companies in Saudi Arabia, Israel and Southern Ireland. His articles and journalistic writings are in constant demand from a wide variety of off-road motoring magazines and periodicals, and his wide experience in all matters pertaining to off road involvement have led on a number of occasions to his expert opinion being sought in cases of arbitration and tribunal.

Colin Bryant

A highly trained and very experienced Police Officer, Colin retired from the Force after a period of 33 years. During his time in the police Colin developed his driving skills and indeed spent the whole of his police service in transport and driver training activities. He played an active role as VIP/Royal's Driver having competed an intensive period of training in Protection Driving Techniques. As part of the Armed Protection Squad, Colin successfully completed a highly specialised period of training with the Military ‘SAS’ forces.

Colin is a registered instructor with current NVQ Accreditation to P Section 32 and 33. He is a popular instructor and is in constant demand as a demonstration driver for the Vauxhall Motor Company. He has recently completed a ‘Round the World’ tour with a newly launched Vauxhall ‘Off Road Vehicle’.

Don Clark

Don is an extremely well-known Land Rover expert. He has his own business as a Land Rover builder and repairer, and specialises in the restoration of Land Rover machines. His hobby is also building highly-specialised Land Rover racing vehicles. Don holds a LANTRA Awards Instructor rating and can be found imparting his skills to students most weekends.
